Here’s just a little bit about us…..

Chris: 

“My background is in furniture design and manufacture.  After graduating from Rycotewood College in Oxfordshire, I worked in my family’s furniture and soft furnishings business, “The Dormy House”.  I then set off on my own and carved a successful career designing, making and installing bespoke fitted furniture.  This progressed into designing and making painted kitchens for clients and carrying out the all fitting and associated works.

In 2011, I set up Haydown Limited and continued to make kitchens, as well as the occasional piece of fitted furniture.  Lis and I then progressed into selling German kitchens from leading brands Nobilia and Nolte.

We recently took the opportunity to move our showroom to the vibrant Hampshire market town of Stockbridge.  Tied in with this, we also became a retailer partner of Masterclass Kitchens – beautiful kitchen furniture, made here in the UK.

Outside of the world of kitchens,  one of my passions is skiing – something I started relatively late in life.  I also enjoy cooking  (which is a good thing, as Lis is not known for her culinary talents!)  In my mind, there is nothing nicer than sharing a home cooked meal, packed full of flavour and fresh ingredients with family and friends.”

Lis:

“My background couldn’t be more different to Chris’s!  After completing an HND in Business Studies and Tourism, I worked for a major tour operator and spent many years overseas, which I absolutely adored. I started off as a holiday representative and worked my way up to management.  It was a very interesting and varied career with a strong focus on customer service.  It also gave me the opportunity to learn several European languages including Greek and Spanish.

On returning to England in 2003, I met Chris, we got married and the rest, as they say, is history!  In 2016, after working several years in procurement for an international business supplies company, I joined Chris full time.

I definitely wear lots of different hats at work and no two days are ever the same.  One moment I can be busy carrying out all the “behind the scenes” organisational work, and then the next I am using my rusty German with our Nolte and Nobilia delivery drivers.

My passion for travel has never gone, and there are many countries I would love to go to, plus many others I’d love to visit again.    My “home from home” will always be Greece and although I am not known as a great cook, the one thing I can make with (some) success is the Greek dish “Spanakopita” (cheese and spinach pie).”
