Shaker Kitchen for a Character Cottage

This new kitchen honestly speaks for itself! It looks right at home, wonderfully complementing the cottage's character. When we discussed ideas for their lovely, thatched home, we knew we had to deliver a kitchen that looked amazing but worked hard, fitting perfectly with the property's history and charm.

Classic Shaker, Custom Colour

The classic Shaker-style cabinets look great and suit these traditional homes perfectly. To give it a real lift, the cabinetry was custom-painted in a beautiful aqua shade and it’s just gorgeous. 

The colour works brilliantly with the oak-effect interiors and the subtly veined white quartz worktop, paired with open shelving to display favourite cookbooks and personal bits and pieces. The final effect is a beautifully layered design that truly feels like it was made just for this cottage.

Preserving Charm

Working with the quirks of this historic character cottage certainly presented its challenges. We had to tackle the reality of wonky walls and an uneven floor and ceiling.

However, with a carefully considered bespoke kitchen design and the expert skills of our installation team, everything came together perfectly. Our expert fitters installed the kitchen to follow the building's lines, adjusting any cabinets and panels on site to create a beautifully fitted kitchen.

Storage That Works

Good storage with easy access was a big priority in this kitchen. Beneath the ovens, a deep drawer featuring an internal drawer provides plenty of space, making it perfect for keeping baking sheets and roasting trays neat and handy. 

For the awkward corner cabinet, LeMans pull-out shelves were fitted. This clever solution ensures that nothing gets lost in the back, as the trays swing right out for easy retrieval, whilst the curved cabinet at the end of the run creates an accessible home for the client’s food mixer. For appliances, the focus was on reliability and convenience. A Bosch induction hob and Elica extractor were chosen for efficient cooking. To save valuable worktop space, a Quooker boiling water tap was installed, giving the client instant boiling water. The result is a kitchen that feels effortlessly organised, making daily cooking and cleaning a pleasure.
